As the TIME-X project draws to a close, now comes the time when we implement meaningful and efficient ways to ensure the longevity of your newly developed codes. The focus of the second TIME-X Hackathon will therefore be on continuous testing/integration methods. If you don't know what that means and/or if you are not yet testing your code and/or do not know how to implement a unit test, you are definitely part of the target audience!

The plan is not to learn how to implement a unit test, but to discuss what are good tests specific to your code and PinT methods in general. It is, after all, all too easy to fool yourself with tests and we think we could learn a lot by exchanging ideas on how to design the tests. To get started and to prepare for your attendance, we recommend watching the talks from the HiRSE Summer of Testing that are relevant to you:

https://www.youtube.com/@Helmholtz_Platform_for_RSE

The first talks on why testing is important and how to do that in C++ are already online and tutorials for other languages such as Julia will be released later.

If this sounds interesting to you, please consider attending the TIME-X Test-Hackathon in Darmstadt from Tuesday, October 24 at noon to noon on the following day.

Darmstadt is very close to Frankfurt Airport and hence easily accessible by both train and plane. We are looking into financing options from TIME-X and will keep you posted.

In terms of hotels we recommend the following options:

  • Welcome Hotel (close to the venue and city center)
  • Intercity Hotel (close to the main train station, 30min walk to venue or tram)

The event is also open for non-TIME-X members.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Thomas and Sebastian
